Checking in

I’ve been slacking on the blog front, and I apologize. I wish I had a good excuse, but really I just have several mediocre ones — puppies, work reorg, road trip to Florida, recent addiction to Bones on Netflix, and just general craziness.

This isn’t a real post, but just a rundown of recent events and random thoughts.

My work life was not just disrupted, but more like half-hazardly buckled into a carnival ride and then cranked up past the safe zone to be sent spinning out of control and causing me to lose my bearings and my lunch. Without going into too many details (my co-workers read this after all) let’s just say that I may be suddenly switching gears. Everything is still largely ambiguous, but I’m optimistic as ever.

My boyfriend and I had taken in two foster puppies about 2 months ago. We were expecting a three week commitment, but the little girl was with us for about eight. I’m still missing her like crazy. Nothing really competes with coming home to pure joy and excitement every single day. I miss our weekend couch sessions. I played video games, she chewed a bone. It was bliss. But I know I’m not really ready to commit to a dog yet — and her new family is amazing — so I’m working on getting over it.

Made a trip to Florida for a wedding. It was hot, humid and reaffirmed my belief that I could never actually live there. Despite all of the above I still had a great time. I did learn a valuable lesson — never run in Florida while the sun is up — you will sweat for hours afterwards!

Speaking of running, I’ve slowly eased back into it. I’ve done 2 miles about three times a week for the last few weeks. I’m aiming for my first 5k around the middle of May and I’m stoked!

But enough about me! What have you been up to?
